Can't detect .wav files metadata??

$

Hi,

First of all, thanks for your attention.

Currently I'm trying to update a library full of .wav files with embedded ID3 tags to LIST tags using "ID tag update" (for compatibility reasons). At first I thought the files didn't have any tags (as dMC doesn't show any), but after testing out with foobar2000 and Sonos Controller, it seems the tags are there.

Any help on what the problem could be?

restoring CD Ripper settings after hard drive crash

The hard drive on my computer died and I replaced it. I restored dBpoweramp using the link in "Registration Problems and Download Link or Reinstalling". I have recreated the encoder settings as best I can from memory but since I have a backup of the hard drive I was wondering if the settings are stored in a file.

I also tried to follow the instructions in the CD Ripper setup guide but ran into a problem. It says to click on Options and change the ripping method to secure. When I click on Options I only have two choice, "Encoder priority" and "After ripping".
How can I be sure that secure ripping is configured correctly?

WAV To FLAC Conversion Error

Because HDTracks doesn't always QC their files, I've had problems in the past with FLAC files being corrupt. I can sometimes fix this by converting FLAC to FLAC, but since they now offer WAV downloads, I've switched to that format and convert them to FLAC with dMC. No problems forever, until I tried converting the recent Astral Weeks release. I get the following error, regardless of whether I convert from WAV to FLAC or WAV to WAV. It's the same for all eight tracks.

Warning 'RiffSizeLeft != FileSizeLeft' must be extra data on end of file. [clRIFFHandler::ScanFile]
Warning Chunk is out of RIFF area (but still inside file). [clRIFFHandler::ScanFile]
Error calculated total RIFF chunk size differs from file. [clRIFFHandler::ScanFile]

I can't really tell if this is strictly some sort of metadata issue or if the files are damaged. Any thoughts?

acurate rip for one of the track is x

I put CD and dbpoweramp found meta data and it says it is in acurate rip. Except for track 2, all others have AR icon. Track 2 has x. Does it mean it is not good? However, it has secure checked.

What is ultra secure option in secure rip? Is it recommended to to set ultra secure option?

I see following in the log. Track 2 has acurate rip as x

Hi from France

Why can I do not be able to encode into 24 bits 96 kHz with R15 version?
I think Falc 1.3.0 well does it.

Thanks

Old XP Power Utility

I hope someone can help me to find an old utility that used to be available. It was for XP and it put a power control icon in the systray. I can't seem to find it in my installer archives and if someone could give me it's old name, (you know how cryptic they can be! 8-D ), or a link to download a new copy I'd be very much obliged. Thanks.

BD-ROM drive not recognized by dBpoweramp

Hi. I've now got a laptop with a "BD-ROM" drive (Blu-ray read-only; DVD/CD write) and dBpoweramp R13 does not recognize this as a rippable input device. Is there a newer version of dBpoweramp that will use this drive? Please advise. Thanks.

Folder naming: truncates before second colon or second semi-colon

I am ripping thousands of classical discs, with the naming string as follows:

[album]\[IFMULTI]Disc [disc][]\[track] [IFVALUE]composer,[composer],[] - [title]

When it gets to the title of the folder, if there are two colons (to be replaced by semi-colon) or even if I change the colons pre-rip to semi-colons, the title truncates when it encounters the second colon or semi-colon. For instance:

If Album title = Brahms: Symphony No. 1: Martinu: Symphony No. 4 - Tennstedt

Folder is written = Brahms; Symphony No. 1

If Album title = Brahms; Symphony No. 1; Martinu; Symphony No. 4 - Tennstedt

Folder is written = Brahms, Symphony No. 1

If Album title = Brahms: Symphony No. 1, Martinu, Symphony No. 4 - Tennstedt

Folder is written = Brahms; Symphony No. 1, Martinu, Symphony No. 4 - Tennstedt

Ripping to a Synology DiskStation DS412+. Is this a dBpoweramp problem, a Synology problem or a Windows problem?

Converting FLAC to mp3 problems.

So I used dbpoweramp to convert some FLACs to MP3.
Well once it was done, all/most my tags where gone and didn't want to reapply the tags again.
It was weird since some files had tags and some didn't.

Checked tags with MP3Tag and the seemed good.

I used foobar2000 and did the same thing, only this time the tags remained.
I wanted to use 400 kbps,but foobar2000 does not support oever 320.

Is anything over 320kbps overkill for mp3.Is it worth it?
Should I just stick with 320 or FLAC?

Also is what I experienced some sort of bug with dbpoweramp?

re-rip 13000 frames

I have brand new cd. All of first seven tracks and middle of two more tracks are identified by acurate rip. Others are failing. Not sure how long it takes to re-rip 13000 frames.

Is there better way to improve ripping? I can wait if quality makes difference. Right now ultra-security is enabled. I washed CD so many times. There are very minor scratches.

Success rate so far with audio cds is not good though everything is brand new. Not sure so many manufacturing defects. I usually have very few minor problems when I do for blu-ray or DVDs with anydvd.

Frame error question

$

I'm currently ripping an audio CD on which all tracks except one are secure. I've tried cleaning the CD several times (very carefully) and this has led to the observation that on three different secure rip attempts, each time I got a different number of frames that needed to be re-ripped: 2,500 on first attempt, 980 on second attempt, and 5,400 on third attempt. My question is whether this indicates that my drive may be faulty as it is giving such varying readings on the same track. Or could there be some other reason?

I run Windows 7 64 Home Premium, dBpoweramp 14.2 Registered Reference, PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-216 ATA.

MP3 decode errors not being reported after upgrading from 14.2

I have to revert to 14.2 because I rely on dMC to alert me when there is a MP3 decode error.

After I upgraded to 14.4 it is ignoring errors, even if "Report as error" option is chosen in MP3 decoder configuration section.

This is on Windows XP.

composer for lyrics

Is there any tag for Lyrics? Almost all of Indian movies have single music director and different singers and writers for lyrics for tracks in CD.

I am using the global tag albumartist for music direcor and for each track
title
Artist: singler1, singer2
Composer: whoever writes Lyrics (mostly each track has differnt lyrics writer)

I am looking for lyrics tag. Otherwise, I will follow this approach. I need to rip 75 more movies and I want to avoid redo.

UPC - based disc library

Hi,

I would like to make a UPC-based music library, since I own same albums in (many) different editions and UPC number is probably the only way how to correctly identify batch ripped CD´s.
Unfortunatelly when I use PerfectMeta, the UPC number is usually wrong. Is there a way how to setup PerfectMeta to use UPC number directly from CD itself, not from the online database?

Thank you

Tomas

How can I return Ripping Method to Secure ?

Hello,

I purchased dBpoweramp Reference R14.4 (Single PC) last month.
First, I set Options/Ripping Method to "Secure".
I ripped several CDs successfully.

However I received an error message about one CD,and be recommended for normal ripping.
And so I changed Ripping Method to "Burst" and achieved ripping of this CD.

Then I tried to return Ripping method from "Burst" to "Secure" ,but can't do it because "Secure" clicking option do not become active.

Please instruct me how can I change Ripping method to "Secure" again.

New ripping project: batch + perfectmeta + cue/flac & seperate flac & mp3

$

New to dBpa and about to begin ripping several hundred CDs. My goals:
1. Use nimbie and BatchRipper
2. Get best possible metadata and album art
3. Maintain consistent file naming scheme
4. Produce an exact replica (to be able to burn an exact replica later) for archival
5. Encode separate tracks in lossless and mp3

Is all of this possible? What is the best way to go about doing it?

Going through the forums, one of my concerns is this combination of (4) and (5).
To achieve (4), I assume FLAC+cue is the best option -- but supports only single file.
To achieve (5), I'd need Multiencoder -- but supports only two simultaneous encodes.

If FLAC+cue could produce multiple tracks, then I think my problem would be solved. But if I'm understanding correctly, if I want a cue sheet, and separate FLAC and MP3 tracks, I'd need to encode to FLAC+cue, FLAC, and MP3 -- which MultiEncoder won't support.

One concern about FLAC+cue as a single track is that I'd need a separate cue splitter which may not preserve all the metadata, and may not preserve the same file naming conventions. Is this valid?

Saw that some people use EAC for multi-track and cue, but will it do everything else 1-5?

Appreciate any advice.
